Who We Are

Jimmy Bet is owned and operated by James Filgate, a registered Victorian bookmaker. Jimmy Bet is licensed by Racing Victoria and regulated by Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Registration (VCGLR) to accept wagers via the Internet and the telephone 24 hours a day. Jimmy Bet is a member of the Victorian Bookmakers' Association Limited (VBA) (https://www.vicbookmakers.com.au).

James has performed numerous roles in over 35 years in the Australian wagering industry. In 2010, James was registered as a bookmaker in South Australia and in the same year started making the annual pilgrimage to the Darwin Cup in the Northern Territory.

At the end of 2011, James purchased an existing bookmaking business, and started trading, in Victoria as Jimmy Bet. In the intervening years, Jimmy Bet built a diverse oncourse wagering business, attending and trading at over 200 meetings a year including working as a rails bookmaker. In more recent times, we have been trading on BestBookies and, since the onset of COVID-19, have been looking after our growing and loyal clientele via our phone betting service.

We are a traditional bookmaker, respected by peers and punters alike. We offer a competitive product and take pride in treating our Customers fairly.

The online wagering sector has experienced rapid growth in the last few years, particularly with the expansion of large foreign-owned corporate bookmakers. We have noticed that the focus on such operators on marketing and promotions is funded by degrading the products and offering reduced dividends. With that in mind, our objective is to reward the punter with superior dividends and more competitive markets every day, rather than with an occasional bonus.
